Course Hours



Participants taking this course must be physically fit. A valid marine medical (pilot or diver's medicals are also accepted) or medical fitness report is mandatory. The marine medical report form must be submitted prior to the start of the course in order to register. Trainees arriving without a valid medical will be refused entry and will be charged the full course fee.

Training in marine firefighting requires participants to engage in moderately strenuous physical activity. Training activities include fighting fires while wearing heavy fire protective clothing and a breathing aparatus, working in areas with little or no visibility.

Please note: You will receive a confirmation email approximately one week prior to the course starting.  This will indicate course start time, room number, and other important information about the course.

Clothing to bring to MED training:

  • outside winter clothing for fire (including a hat and gloves)
  • clothing suitable for dirty environments (coveralls or workclothes) for firefighting exercises
  • heavy socks
  • steel-toed boots

The college provides full protective firefighting clothing, coveralls and boots.
