Health and Wellness Clinics
The clinics serve a dual purpose. The clinics help meet local demand for health-care services, with services available at a reduced price and with flexible evening hours. They are also a learning environment for Health, Wellness and Sciences programs, providing practical experience with real clients under the guidance of experienced professionals including nurse practitioners, dental hygienists, registered massage therapists and others. Clinics include:
Nurse Practitioner-led Clinic
The Georgian Nurse Practitioner-led Clinic (GNPLC) is a Government of Ontario initiative funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The clinic, located at Georgian’s Barrie Campus, provides all the services you could expect from a family practice, including:
- minor illness and injury treatments
- sexual health screening and physicals
- access to extended hours clinic
- family planning and pregnancy care
- support to quit smoking
- nutrition consultation and weight management
- mental health and counselling services
- access to telemedicine specialist consultation
- chronic disease self-management program
Students with a valid Ontario health card who do not have a health-care provider in the area can access clinic services by booking an appointment. International students seeking health-care services must visit a walk-in clinic.
Health insurance coverage
Georgian students have access to insurance coverage through Georgian College Students’ Association (GCSA) mystudentplan. International students also have coverage through guard.me International Insurance.
This health and dental plan for Georgian students provides coverage for non-emergency health and dental needs (e.g. dental check-up, physiotherapy, massage therapy, etc.).

This insurance coverage is for emergency health conditions and anything new (e.g. flu, sore throat, rash, etc.) that starts after your insurance coverage begins. The plan does not cover pre-existing conditions.

All Georgian students have access to free, confidential counselling. Our professional counsellors are here to discuss personal and mental health concerns that are impacting your life and/or academics.

Available through your health insurance coverage with mystudentplan, mywellness is a central resource providing students access to mental health and wellness information and supports.
The information and tools available through mywellness have been developed to assist you in increasing and/or sustaining optimal health, so you can maintain a productive and positive lifestyle while completing your studies.
