Giving to Georgian College

Georgian College has built an unmatched reputation for relevant, cutting-edge curriculum and quality work experience in our region. We pride ourselves on providing real value to our students, grads, employers and communities. Join us as we invest in preparing tomorrow’s grads to meet – and create – tomorrow’s opportunities.

The Power of Education Campaign

The Power of Education is Georgian College’s fundraising campaign. The goal of this college-wide initiative is to raise important funds to help Georgian develop and expand key programs and initiatives to advance student success and offer the best possible postsecondary education opportunities.

Maintaining our edge in the future will increasingly be about creating a new kind of student experience: One that empowers students to learn anytime, anywhere; uses technology to enable and expand access to learning; and prepares our graduates to adapt and innovate in a new economy. Our plan is ambitious, but so are our students, and the communities, industries and donors that support us.

Who benefits most?

The fundraising campaign benefits everyone connected to Georgian College – students, alumni, employers and the community as a whole.

  • Students are educated in modern facilities, on current, leading-edge technologies, in relevant programs that will be their springboard to successful careers.
  • Alumni benefit from Georgian maintaining its reputation as a first-rate postsecondary institution. A Georgian education is highly valued by employers.
  • Employers have more qualified graduates for their hiring pools, reduced training costs as many Georgian grads already have hands-on experience, and their reputation is enhanced as an employer of choice.
  • Communities surrounding Georgian have a local, quality postsecondary educational institution. An educated community creates a higher standard of living.

Georgian Cenotaph, Barrie Campus

Georgian undertook a major capital project to restore its cenotaph, which was relocated due to the construction of the Sadlon Centre for Health and Wellness. The restored cenotaph serves as the centrepiece of Georgian’s annual Remembrance Day commemoration and has also become a gathering place of peace and reflection for students, staff and visitors alike.

The Sadlon Centre for Health, Wellness and Sciences is the hub of health and wellness education in our region and the largest expansion in Georgian’s history. It includes six community-accessible teaching health clinics, technology-enhanced classrooms and university-calibre laboratories. Georgian can now facilitate interdisciplinary teaching and learning, which means students from various programs study and work together for the benefit of patients.

John Di Poce South Georgian Bay Campus

After 27 years of operating in rented facilities, Georgian opened its first permanent location in Collingwood in 2011. The 20,000-square-foot building has nine classrooms, including two computer labs, one multi-functional health sciences lab, and an innovative e-learning lab where students have, for the first time, local access to university studies.

Centre for Sustainable Technologies, Barrie Campus

Roads, bridges, sewers, buildings, lights and even the vehicle you drive – technicians and technologists play a role in creating almost every basic service used in daily life. The Centre for Sustainable Technologies is where these professionals receive quality education with modern technologies, resources and industry-developed curriculum. It has allowed Georgian to increase enrolment in targeted programs to provide engineering and technology-related companies with much-needed skilled workers for their hiring pools.

Great Lakes International Marine Training and Research Centre, Owen Sound Campus

Georgian is home to the most advanced marine simulation and research centre in Canada. The expanded and technologically enhanced GLIMTRC reproduces real-life circumstances to develop the highest level of competency in the sector’s future workforce. With global marine traffic expected to triple in the next 20 years and a worldwide shortage of shipping officers and seafarers, this facility helps to meet the need for expertly trained marine professionals.

Muskoka Campus

Georgian opened the doors to its first permanent campus in Bracebridge in 2007 to serve Muskoka region residents, thanks in large part to a property donation from the Town of Bracebridge. The campus features a 7,000-square-feet carpentry shop, a health sciences lab and computer labs equipped with the latest software, helping to meet the local demand for skilled tradespeople, health care professionals and business and service sector employment training.
