Student innovation at Georgian makes for great company

The Centre for Changemaking and Social Innovation and Georgian College Students’ Association recently launched Charlie & Co., a peer-led, co-curricular affinity group for students who want to learn how to design and lead positive changemaking acts through the lens of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Through Charlie & Co., every student at Georgian will have the opportunity, tools and support to make the change they desire to see.

Charlie & Co. headquarters will be at the Orillia Campus, with chapters at all of Georgian’s campuses.

Background on Charlie & Co.

The new initiative was inspired by Community Impact Projects (CIP), housed in the Community Impact Lab in Orillia. For several years, the projects operated as a changemaker incubator and innovative field placement. Students worked alongside community partners to co-create solutions to pressing challenges like food insecurity and social isolation.

Georgian students earned well-deserved praise and acclaim for their work, and there were calls by the community to expand CIP so a greater number of students could participate each term.

Charlie & Co. takes CIP to a whole new level and we can’t wait to see what students get up to!
