What’s open and closed during the holidays 2025

All Georgian campuses (including the downtown Barrie location) will close for the 2025 holiday season at the end of the business day on Tuesday, Dec. 23 and re-open on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

Some areas will continue to offer service (remotely or in person) or have adjusted hours during this time. These are outlined below.

Athletic and Fitness Centres

  • Barrie Campus:
    • The Barrie Athletic & Fitness Centre will be closed as of Wednesday, Dec. 24 and will re-open on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
  • Orillia Campus:
    • The Orillia Fitness Centre will be closed as of Saturday, Dec. 20 and will re-open on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
  • Owen Sound Campus:
    • The Owen Sound Fitness Centre will be closed as of of Saturday, Dec. 20 and will re-open on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.

Career and Employment Community Services (CECS)

  • Service across all three locations (Barrie, Orangeville and Orillia) will be available virtually on the following dates:
    • Monday, Dec. 29 (8:30 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m.)
    • Tuesday, Dec. 30 (8:30 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m.)
    • Aside from remote service on the dates listed above, all locations will be closed as of Wednesday, Dec. 24 and will re-open on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

Food services

  • Barrie Campus:
    • The Marketplace Cafeteria will be closed as of Tuesday, Dec. 23 and will re-open Monday, Jan. 5, 2026
    • Subway will be closed as of Dec. 12 and will re-open Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
    • Tim Hortons will be closed as of Dec. 13 and will re-open Monday, Jan. 5, 2026
  • Orillia Campus:
    • Tim Hortons will be closed as of Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. and will re-open Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
      • Dec. 15 to 18: 7: 30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
      • Dec. 19: 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Cafeteria will be closed as of Saturday, Dec. 13 and will re-open on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
  • Owen Sound Campus:
    • The Cafeteria will be open from Monday, Dec. 16 to Thursday, Dec. 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Friday, Dec. 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cafeteria will then be closed as of Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. and re-open Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.

Georgian Stores

  • Georgian Stores will be closed for in-person shopping as of Wednesday, Dec. 24.
  • You can shop online at any time, but please note orders will be shipped after Jan. 2, 2026.

International Centre

  • The Segal International Centre will be closed as of Wednesday, Dec. 24 and will re-open on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.

    • Download iCent: Download the iCent app from Google Play or the Apple Store for additional guidance during your arrival, including recommendations for short-term accommodations.
    • Airport Pickup and Transportation: Check the Airport Arrival page on our website for a comprehensive list of transportation resources within your campus community.
    • Emergency contacts: For travel emergencies only, email transitionsupport@georgiancollege.ca. This account will be monitored once a day during the holiday closure.
    • Program change requests, SIN applications, deferrals, withdrawals, etc., are not emergencies. Please wait until the college reopens to contact us with non-emergency questions.
