Changemaker in Residency Week is back!

Think you can change the world? We do too. Georgian is Canada’s first – and only – designated Ashoka U changemaker college. Come see what changemaking is all about and discover how you can make a meaningful difference for causes you care about.

Changemaker in Residency Week – March 22 to 26

It is time to bring our Georgian community together again to explore changemaking and social innovation, with a particular focus on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals – goals designed to help transform our world. The week-long series of virtual, interactive events is open to students, employees, educators and community partners from anywhere!

Hosted by the Centre for Changemaking and Social Innovation (CCSI), in partnership with Co-operative Education and Career Success, Changemaker in Residency Week will feature virtual workshops, compelling conversations, networking opportunities, and various guest speakers.

“We have some great new workshops that share knowledge and resources around community activism and social enterprise,” says Nicole Norris, Manager, CCSI. “In addition, participants will learn more about what changemaking is, be inspired by what others are doing, hear about cool tools they can use, connect with local employers, and network with like-minded people!”

As a student, there are lots of ways to participate in Changemaker in Residency Week. Every session you attend earns you innovation capital points which can be used to unlock patches. Your final GrizzlyGo! patch can be shared to your LinkedIn profile or placed in your digital backpack to show employers that you have activated twenty-first century future skills.

Participating partners include the City of Barrie, United Way, Ashoka Canada, Simcoe County District School Board, County of Simcoe #ITSTARTS, Internationalization Committee, Segal International Centre, Indigenous Services and Access Programs, Georgian College Students’ Association, Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre, and Co-operative Education and Career Success.
