9 fun ways to enjoy winter . . . really, it is possible!

Winter is here. And more snow is coming. A lot more. But don’t despair – there are many ways you can learn to embrace our traditional Canadian winter.
Buy a toboggan. They’re not just for kids. Your inner child will love zipping down a hill screaming at the top of your lungs.
Go hot chocolate hunting. Don’t limit yourself to regular hot chocolate – although chocolate is great! There are so many different flavours to explore – peppermint, salted caramel, snickerdoodle and more. Make it your winter mission to taste test all of them and find the best hot chocolate in your area.
Find your skates. There are many indoor and outdoor rinks to enjoy in the area, so dig out your skates, sharpen them and go for a glide.
Dress your pet in a ridiculously cute winter outfit. Antlers, little sweaters, a Santa hat. It’s all good. And don’t forget to take a photo and tag @georgiancollege so we can all enjoy it!
Play in the snow. It’s going to be here for a while so it’s best to make friends with it. Build a snowman. Or a snowdog. Have a snowball fight with your friends or family. Catch snowflakes on your tongue or eyelashes. None of these activities cost a cent and they’re a fun way to enjoy a crisp winter day.

Dress for the weather. Treat yourself to a long, wind-resistant, warm jacket. Make sure you have a good supply of hats, mittens, scarves and insulated boots with a good tread. Warm clothing makes all the difference in the world.
Try winter camping. That may sound like a really (really!) strange thing to do, but apparently it can be fun and enjoyable. And besides . . . haven’t you always wanted to see the inside of a yurt?
Go for a walk, or strap on some skis or snowshoes. There are a ton of ski hills and trails in all our campus communities.
Take a class. If the idea of frolicking outside in the cold this winter has absolutely no appeal for you, then spend the time learning a new skill or hobby. We offer a wide selection of courses through Part-time Studies and it’s not too late to register for January in some of our full-time programs.

Blizzard outside?
Review Georgian’s Unscheduled Campus Closure Procedure. In the rare instance a campus closes, students should check Blackboard for faculty expectations.
