Photo essay: Pre-service Firefighter students compete, pull a fire truck at Canadian Forces Base Borden

Students from our Pre-service Firefighter Education and Training program competed at a Skill Competition alongside QL3 military students from Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Borden on May 17.

Teams rotated through a variety of stations – such as a hoisting tool relay, forcible entry/drag relay, and search and rescue letters relay – at the base’s training fire ground about 30 minutes from Georgian’s Barrie Campus.

Georgian President and CEO Kevin Weaver, VP, Academic Dr. Yael Katz, and Dean, Human Services and Community Safety Mary Louise Noce each visited the competition and got a ride more than 100 feet in the air in an aerial fire truck.

They also competed in a tug of war, handed out awards, and finished the day with a truck pull.
