School of Business Sustainability Talks feature Steam Whistle Brewing
Nov. 17, 2016
The very first Sustainability Talks at Georgian College in Barrie was entitled People-Planet-Profit – Putting the Triple Pundit to Work at Steam Whistle Brewing. Over 100 Georgian College students, along with faculty, recently gathered to listen to Sybil Taylor, Communications Director of Steam Whistle Brewing (SWB).
“We view this event as an opportunity to provide insight and examples to students and Georgian community on the extent to which Canadian companies have built environmental and social aspects of sustainability initiatives in to their operations,” said Dr. Oguz Morali, faculty member in the School of Business, and the event organizer.
Students from the Honours Bachelor of Business (Automotive Management) and the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Golf Management) enjoyed an hour listening to SWB’s inspirational sustainability initiatives while, at the same time, hoping for free product samples, to no avail! Sybil Taylor delivered an awe-inspiring talk and demonstrated SWB’s organizational commitment to sustainability. The highlight of the presentation was a story of the Retro Electro Vintage truck powered by 100% green electricity. Given the student demographics, this came as no surprise.
