Minister of International Trade speaks to students

Peter Van Loan at Georgian CollegeThe Honourable Peter Van Loan, Canadian Minister of International Trade, addressed students in the Georgian College Theatre at the Barrie Campus on Feb. 22. Minister Van Loan, MP for York-Simcoe, discussed Canada’s current foreign trade initiatives and accomplishments and future aspirations in an ever expanding global market. Canada’s economy is two-thirds trade-related and Van Loan is striving to create as many free trade agreements as possible with nations around the world. His top priority is working toward a free trade agreement with the European Union, which could mean an additional $12 billion in annual revenue for Canada.
