Georgian participating in ImpAct Climate Challenge

It’s our responsibility to invest in our planet and create a sustainable future, and it starts with the smallest actions in our daily lives.

One of the commitments in Georgian’s 2022-24 strategic plan is environmental accountability. As part of our core strategies, the Georgian College Students’ Association (GCSA) recently signed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Accord, furthering ownership and empowerment toward integrating sustainability practices on campus and in the community.

Among several corporate sustainability initiatives driven by the Sustainable Development Goals, we are excited to also take part in the ImpAct Climate Challenge, started by Colleges and Institutes Canada (CiCan). The single biggest contributor to climate change is greenhouse gas emissions and we need to do our part to reduce it. The challenge is simple: submit your ideas, actions or projects to positively impact the environment.

Who can participate?

Colleges and institutes across Canada are invited to participate including students, employees, staff and administration. Individual, group and institutional prizes will be awarded, and participants are encouraged to be as creative as possible with their submissions.

How to participate

First, think about what you do in your daily life that helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. No action is too big or too small!

Then, submit your actions, ideas or projects in one of two ways. All forms of submissions are welcome.

  1. Submit via social media. Use the hashtag #ImpActClimate and tag your institution and CICan in your post.
  2. Submit via online form at impactclimate.ca

The deadline to submit your game-changing ideas is May 31. Together, we can help restore our Earth for a happier, healthier and greener future.
