Georgian and YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka invite 2SLGBTQIA+ community to help shape Future of Belonging

In a continued effort to foster community belonging and inclusivity, Georgian College and the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka are thrilled to announce an upcoming community conversation for the Future of Belonging initiative.

The community conversation on June 18 will offer a platform for voices from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to share their experiences, insights and suggestions for creating more inclusive environments within the Simcoe/Muskoka region.

Several people sit around a table covered in a paper chart and colourful Post-it notes.

This will be the third session hosted by Georgian’s Social Innovation team and the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka for its Future of Belonging project, which aims to further explore and enhance a sense of community belonging across the region through creative approaches and active community participation.

The first of two successful community conversations took place in December with community organizations, while the second in April focused on newcomers and international student populations.

Throughout the Future of Belonging project, we’re elevating the voices of community members to help local organizations maintain relevancy for the people they serve. Part of that process is helping to bring agency to underrepresented groups, and so we look forward to this session to learn more about how we can all make our communities more inclusive and representative.
