Georgian and the County of Simcoe host free personal branding workshop for newcomers March 30
March 17, 2023
Georgian’s Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre (HBEC), with support from the County of Simcoe, is hosting Business Etiquette and Personal Branding, a networking workshop focused on helping community newcomers with their entrepreneurial journey.
The workshop features a panel of experts and immigrant-based business owners sharing their expertise and experience with the different types of companies they run in Canada.
Jan Bailey, Founder of Ovation, Experts in Speaker Training is a personal branding expert who will facilitate the panel discussion. She’ll discuss the tools and strategies to communicate, negotiate, build and maintain customer relationships, which can help boost business and confidence. Participants will also hear from Miguel Abascal, Founder of UnstoppableMe.rocks, Rosa Diaz, Founder of Road Map to Canada Immigration Consulting Inc. and Paulo Cardoso, Chief Partnerships Officer of JKR Canada. They’ll be sharing stories as business owners – how they overcame barriers, things they wish they’d known starting out, and tips on how to be the best “talking” business card.
The workshop will begin at 1 p.m. and will include an opportunity for participants to network and make helpful business connections at the XcelerateNOW Marketplace full of great vendors and products from local and Immigrant-owned businesses. Starting at 4 p.m. the Sandbox Centre will host its social hour where participants can keep networking with members of the community.
The workshop is part of the Start Now series, funded in partnership by the County of Simcoe, that includes a collection of workshop and networking events on topics specific to business owners who are new to Canada. All workshops in the series will be recorded and available on Bernick Online which will also be a continued resource for newcomers.
The Start Now series is part of HBEC’s XcelerateNOW program – a new initiative focusing on supporting newcomers, immigrants and refugees with entrepreneurship support, mentorship, funding opportunities and resources.
This workshop is funded and hosted in partnership with the County of Simcoe, and with the support of Georgian’s Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre, Invest Barrie, Town of Innisfil, Nottawasaga Futures, Sandbox Centre, South Georgian Bay Small Business Enterprise Centre and the Small Business Centre for Barrie, Simcoe County and Orillia.
