COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Barrie Campus Jan. 26 and Feb. 2
Jan. 21, 2022
Georgian College is holding three vaccination clinics on Jan. 26 and Feb. 2 at the Barrie Campus, providing an opportunity for students, employees and the local community to get their first, second or booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The clinics are co-ordinated by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) in partnership with Georgian’s Health, Wellness and Sciences department. Nursing and Paramedic students will be helping with immunizations and monitoring after care.
We are very pleased to partner once again with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit to offer these clinics at our Barrie Campus, We know widespread vaccination is our best strategy to a safe and more rapid return to on-campus life and providing this convenient opportunity for our students and employees to get vaccinated is part of our ongoing commitment to ensure we’re doing everything we can to slow the transmission of the Omicron variant.
Dr. MaryLynn West-Moynes, President and CEO of Georgian College
In order to work or study on any Georgian campus or affiliated facility, students and employees are required to be fully vaccinated (two doses) against COVID-19, with a vaccine approved by Health Canada or the World Health Organization.
I applaud the efforts being made by Georgian College to protect people on their premises through vaccination against COVID-19, By making vaccination more accessible with these clinics they are also helping to protect the broader community.
Dr. Charles Gardner, Medical Officer of Health for the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.
