Kitchen and Bath Design students take home awards

Award-winning Kitchen and Bath Design students

Georgian’s Kitchen and Bath Design students did well in the National Kitchen and Bath Association Ontario Student Design competition. Winners are Nadine Goralchuk, left, Zou Yixuan, Dean Suessmann, Jen Porter, and Iryna Tiuftiaieva.

Five of Georgian’s Kitchen and Bath Design students are finalists in the third annual National Kitchen and Bath Association Ontario Student Design competition.

Awards were handed out on April 22, with Nadine Goralchuk capturing first place, Iryna taking second and Jen Porter coming in third. Zou Yixuan and Dean Suessmann received honourable mentions for their work.

“This speaks to the high standards taught in our classrooms by faculty who strive to mentor and inspire,” said Mary Dobson, co-ordinator, Kitchen and Bath Design. “Our students were determined to represent Georgian College at the highest level again this year and it is great to see all the hard work pay off for them.”

This is not the first time Georgian students have done well in this competition. Several have won first prize in the past two years, as well as a variety of other prizes including third and several honourable mentions.

Tiuftiaieva has also been recognized as one of the Top 10 Ontario Designers in a design competition sponsored by Sub-Zero appliances, which is a huge honour, said Dobson.

“Iryna was in very stellar company, with many of her fellow winners being very experienced and considered industry leaders,” she said.
