It’s no emergency: Georgian, police and paramedics team up for exercise on Oct. 23
Oct. 21, 2019
If you’re at the Barrie Campus during Study Week, you may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Georgian is participating in an emergency exercise with the Barrie Police Service and Simcoe County Paramedic Services.
The exercise is an opportunity for Georgian and its partners to test their emergency equipment and response. It will take place from approximately 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. During this time, you won’t be able to access the following areas:
- H building: Automotive student lounge area (H102, H121, H119)
- H building: President’s Office (H101, H103)
- E building: Georgian Dining Room (GDR) and GDR Kitchen (E103, E100)
- C building: Student lounge area and Welcome Centre
All other areas adjacent to these will be accessible. The exercise zone will be blocked from view and security personnel will ensure you can’t accidentally enter.
The lockdown notification system will be activated in H, C and E buildings from approximately 1:05 to 1:15 p.m.
If a real emergency takes place, there are protocols in place to ensure the exercise is immediately ended and an emergency response initiated.
If you think you may be triggered by this exercise, please avoid the above areas during this time.
