Fine Arts faculty, students and alumni make giant prints with woodblocks

Students, alumni and faculty from Georgian’s Fine Arts program had a fun day inking and printing large woodblocks at the Barrie Campus on April 11.

The blocks, which are roughly 45 x 85 inches, were printed using a small steam roller in the parking lot just outside the Helen and Arch Brown Centre for Visual Arts.

Participating artists were given a marine theme and there were a wide range of images including boats, historic views, an octopus, a nod to Billy Bishop and even one of the giant rubber duck that visited the Owen Sound harbour.

The students and alumni got to keep the prints. The woodblocks will be moved to the Owen Sound Campus where they will be installed in the library as part of the college collection.
