Georgian’s Culinary students will be bringing a little holiday cheer – in the form of delicious food – to the David Busby Street Centre on Dec. 16.

For over 10 years, students from the Culinary programs have been preparing the centre’s annual Christmas luncheon.

“Students love participating in this event that helps the community,” says Phil Leach, co-ordinator, Culinary programs. “It also brings out their holiday spirit.”

The students will do the shopping and food preparation and will also serve the meal. Everything will be prepared and cooked at the college and then brought to the centre in Barrie. The event also gives students an opportunity to learn about the catering side of the culinary industry.

“Not only do they get to help a community in need, they also learn how to organize external events,” says Leach. “This is an especially helpful learning opportunity for students who may want to open a small catering business.”
