Three of Georgian’s health programs receive high accreditation rating

Georgian recently participated in on-site reviews for several health, wellness and sciences programs with resounding success.

Massage Therapy

In May, the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation conducted a review of our Massage Therapy program.

The surveyors evaluated the extent to which our program met the national accreditation standards for massage therapy education programs in Canada. The standards focused on the following criteria:

  • Curriculum content
  • Faculty and learning
  • Student support
  • Leadership and administration
  • Human resources
  • Resources and infrastructure
  • Quality improvement

Georgian received a score of 99 per cent and has been granted the highest level for this phase – a three-year accreditation.

Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant

Our Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Assistant programs successfully participated in two regulatory reviews this spring.

The Public Health Agency of Canada assessed and reviewed our compliance in meeting and maintaining the standards required to maintain a Biosafety Level 2 Lab licence. Their inspection revealed no deficiencies indicating serious and imminent danger and no major non-compliance.

Our second review was conducted by the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) and we were granted certification.  We were presented with the CCAC Certification of GAP – Good Animal Practice, which recognizes the quality of good animal ethics and care in science programs.
