Students teach other students about drug disposal safety

The infomercial was about safe and appropriate disposal of Fentanyl patches and was based on the Fentanyl Patch for Patch Program, an Ontario-wide initiative to ensure the safe and appropriate disposal of Fentanyl patches.

Fentanyl has been in the news recently as it is frequently misused and abused. Fentanyl is a prescribed medication that is being diverted and is very dangerous when used inappropriately. Patients are now asked to return any patches previously dispensed to them back to the pharmacy before they are able to receive another prescription for them.

The MLT students shared awareness of this program with other Georgian students.

Another mobile session will take place Monday, Nov. 28 between noon and 1 p.m. in the second floor lounge in the Sadlon Centre for Health, Wellness and Sciences.
