ORHMA supports student scholarships for fourth consecutive year
June 16, 2016
The Ontario Restaurant Hotel and Motel Association (ORHMA) Simcoe Region recently donated $22,000 to Georgian to support student scholarships and stipends for Georgian’s Culinary, Hotel and Resort, Tourism and Travel and Event Management programs.
The funds were raised at ORHMA’s annual gala, established in 2012 by founding co-chairs (pictured centre) Sylvia Biffis, Nottawasaga Inn Resort, and Chef Daniel Clements, Georgian College, to recognize the region’s hospitality employers and employees. Since then, ORHMA has raised more than $50,000 for student scholarships at Georgian.
The ORHMA Simcoe Region was established in 2008 by Georgian faculty member John Cunningham (above left) in an effort to strengthen the region’s hospitality community. ORHMA is the largest provincial hospitality association in Canada, representing more than 11,000 establishments in Ontario.
