New funding to expand choices for students transferring to Georgian College
June 16, 2025
Students transferring to Georgian College will soon have more support, thanks to a $75,000 grant from the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT). The funding will help Georgian sync its transfer and pathways data with ONTransfer.ca, a key resource for students exploring how to move between Ontario’s postsecondary institutions.
The project is part of ONCAT’s $2.04 million investment in 29 projects at colleges, universities and Indigenous institutes across Ontario. Georgian’s work is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2026.

ONCAT’s funding empowers institutions like Georgian to collaborate and innovate in support of student success.

The project aims to make it easier for students to receive credit for their previous learning and work experiences and to confidently navigate their academic and career paths, said Julie Madden, Manager, Transfer and Applicant Services and project lead.
“Georgian is dedicated to supporting students on their educational journeys. Through simplified transfer processes and integration of expanded pathways and course equivalency offerings with ONTransfer, we’re making it easier than ever for students to explore opportunities and take the next steps in their education. Georgian’s committed to transformative education that will ensure a smooth, supportive transition for our students,” said Madden.
ONTransfer uses an artificial intelligence search engine to help students find pathways to specific programs, postsecondary institutions or cities, as well as how to use their credits from prior learning to transfer to new programs. The platform also shows anticipated completion dates, program fees, how many prior learning credits would be granted, and more.
