Chef Philip Leach and Michael Agema of Georgian’s culinary programs (right) welcome a new partnership with Markku and Sarah Heino, owners of Yhdessä Olive Oil company (shown here with their son and a helper).

Yhdessä Olive Oil, a Barrie company owned by Markku and Sarah Heino, has announced it will provide organic olive oil to Georgian’s culinary programs. With the culinary programs using approximately 500 litres of the oil a year, this will undoubtedly prove to be a tasteful partnership!

The Yhdessä oil (Yhdessä means “together” in Finnish) is from the Messenia municipality of Greece. Made from Koroneiki olives, the oil harvested and pressed at the height of olive season. The Koroneiki is considered “the queen of olives” and is recognized as one of the preferred varieties for oil production. Picked while still green, the olive is highly prized for its aromatic, strongly flavoured oil, perfect for enjoying in its natural raw state or added at the end of cooking. The olive oil is sourced from organic farms and shipped directly to Barrie, where it is bottled and distributed all over the world.
