Kitchen and Bath Design students win at provincial competition

Georgian students celebrate their wins in the National Kitchen and Bath Association (Ontario chapter) awards.
Four students in Georgian College’s Kitchen and Bath Design program are winners in the National Kitchen and Bath Association Ontario Chapter student kitchen design competition.
The contest was open to all qualifying colleges in the Ontario chapter of the association. Georgian student Christine Irvine won first place and a $1,000 scholarship. Melissa Gostick won second place, while Sarah Skuce and Robyn Bishop took honourable mentions.
The student competitors were challenged to create an Arts and Crafts-style kitchen for a fictitious client wishing to remodel her 1970s kitchen for her daughter’s upcoming wedding. All designs had to include floor plans, elevations, perspective views, appliance specifications and other details.
The winning designers successfully incorporated these elements into their creations, along with special features which were on the client’s wish list.
Georgian’s Kitchen and Bath Design is a one-year graduate certificate program offered at the Barrie Campus. Students build on their previous design education and experience to acquire industry-standard skills and expertise to work in this specialized sector of the residential interior decorating and design profession.
