June 3, 2016
Kevin Weaver has been named Vice President, International, Workforce Development and Partnerships at Georgian College.
Since joining Georgian in 2014, Kevin has demonstrated highly strategic and effective leadership on a number of key college priorities in his role as Dean, Technology and Visual Arts. For the past year, he has also served as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Kevin has guided new program development, maximized enrolment growth in areas of opportunity, and expanded international enrolment and partnerships within his portfolio. His ability to build new and strengthen existing partnerships will continue to contribute to Georgian’s success in this key leadership role focused on mutually beneficial relationships with industry and other partners.
Kevin has been instrumental in growing Georgian’s research agenda and that role will continue in his new VP portfolio. Most recently, he has devoted considerable time and effort toward the planning of our proposed Advanced Technology, Innovation and Research Centre. We expect to hear by the end of June as to whether our federal government submission was accepted and if we are successful, Kevin will continue to play a lead role during the next two years in making it a reality.
Before coming to Georgian, Kevin had more than a decade of progressively responsible experience in the Ontario college system. He also worked in software product management roles in the private sector and spent time in the public sector as a spatial analyst. He holds an MSc in GIS/Spatial Modeling, an Honours BA in Geography and a postgraduate certificate in GIS.
In this new VP role, he will be responsible for International Education and Development, Part-time Studies and Workforce Development, the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation, Government and Employment Programs and operations at Georgian’s Muskoka, Orangeville and South Georgian Bay campuses.
Kevin will take on his new role effective Aug. 1.
