Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne was a special guest at Georgian’s Barrie Campus on March 17. The Premier spoke to members of the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce about Ontario’s economy and plans for business.

Guests in the Georgian Dining Room were treated to a Taste of Ontario lunch prepared and served by students and staff from culinary and hospitality programs. The menu featured three courses made with local ingredients: a greenhouse sprout salad with caramelized vegetables and dried cranberries; pan-roasted chicken supreme filled with shiitake mushroom, spinach and goat cheese; and a maple-infused mousse with sponge cake and berry compote.

In her remarks, Premier Wynne pointed to students as part of “our plan for the future,” and stressed the importance of Ontario’s skilled workforce as a competitive advantage.

Many of the students were able to meet the Premier in person as she toured the dining room and kitchen.
