- Wiarton Willie lives about 36 kms from our Owen Sound Campus.
- Groundhog are giant squirrels called marmots.
- Groundhogs are also known by the name “whistle-pig.”
- Their teeth never stop growing.
- They build underground burrows like tiny villages.
- They move as much as 2,495 kgs of dirt to make those burrows.
- They can climb trees and swim.
- When they hibernate, their heart rate slows to five beats a minute.
- They can’t actually predict the weather.
