Georgian offering Pre-health Sciences program this May at Midland Campus

Georgian College is continuing its leadership in health care education with the addition of a one-year Pre-health Sciences certificate this May at the Midland Campus. The program is designed to assist students in determining which health sciences program will best suit their needs. It provides them with opportunities to explore and assess their suitability and compatibility with various health sciences disciplines. Two female students practice their skills in health sciences lab

Courses cover everything from physical and social sciences to communication and critical thinking. Students also have the opportunity to take part in community service learning projects.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to apply for admission to the first year of a health science program at Georgian.

Former Pre-health Sciences student Blair Fleming says the program helped him pursue his dream vocation.

“I wanted to be a registered nurse,” says Fleming. “I needed to upgrade my skills, so I took the Pre-health Sciences program. I studied science, biology, physics, math and general education. In just one year, I had all the pre-requisites I needed to enter the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the Barrie Campus.”

Other students have gone on to enrol in a variety of other programs, such as Pharmacy Technician, Massage Therapy, Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting and Personal Support Worker.
