Georgian co-sponsoring Artrepreneur Barrie workshop
Nov. 24, 2015
Georgian College – in partnership with York Region Arts Council, the City of Barrie and investbarrie.com – will sponsor the first co-hort of Artrepreneur Barrie, a series of weekly workshops featuring assignments, mentorships and a final presentation for creative entrepreneurs aged 18 and older. The series, which takes pace at the Barrie Campus, starts Jan. 12, 2016.
The Artrepreneur Business and Development Accelerator program is designed to equip independent artists, arts administrators and creative entrepreneurs with vital business skills needed for success across all arts disciplines and industries.
“Artists are entrepreneurs who contribute greatly to the social and economic well-being of their communities and require strategic training to grow in capacity,” says Sara Bentham, Project Co-ordinator. “By incubating creative work across all disciplines in one program, we hope to foster collaboration and the sharing of ideas, tools, tips and best practices, resulting in a full understanding of what it takes to make it as a creative entrepreneur.”
The program will appeal to those who come from arts groups and arts businesses working in such creative areas as visual arts, dance, theatre, film, jewellery, fashion, graphic design and gaming.
