Georgian is bronze recipient of the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics’ International Award of Excellence (Higher Technical Skills category).

Electrical Engineering Technician and Technology students, faculty, industry representatives, co-op advisors and administration gathered this week at the Barrie Campus to celebrate. The award was formally presented earlier this fall when the congress met in Vitória, Espírito Santo (Brazil).

The award recognizes an individual, institution or institutional association that has demonstrated excellence in partnering with industry to improve access to jobs and meet the skills needs of the 21st century workforce.

In 2015-16, Georgian was also bronze recipient of the 2015-16 CICan Program Excellence Award. Following that recognition, the college was invited to make a submission for the International Award of Excellence.

Why we’re a leader

Georgian’s relationships with industry partners ensure the skills and knowledge taught in our programs match industry needs while maintaining compliance with ministry program standards.

Strong faculty experience in industry, co-operative education, and leading-edge technologies incorporated in our programs ensure students are job-ready.

Long-standing relationships combined with new partnerships – such as those with Bruce Power and Lakehead University – enable Georgian to produce graduates able to work directly with apprentices and engineers to design, build, operate and maintain the infrastructure that allows Ontario to be a manufacturing and innovation location of choice in the global marketplace.
