Georgian and partners hosting XcelerateHER launch event to help women achieve new levels of success

Women looking to ignite their entrepreneurial spirit and take their business to new heights should attend the South Georgian Bay launch event for XcelerateHER – the Women Entrepreneur Community of Central Ontario.

The free event is hosted by Georgian College’s Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre (HBEC), in partnership with Clearview Township, Collingwood Foundry, Community Futures South Georgian Bay, County of Simcoe, GB Accelerator, South Georgian Bay Small Business Enterprise Centre, Town of the Blue Mountains, Town of Collingwood, and Wasaga Beach. It takes place on Thursday, Aug. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Shipyards Amphitheatre and Greenspace in Collingwood.

The afternoon will be filled with inspiration, self-discovery and networking. It will also feature a picnic lunch, a meditation station led by Candice Thomas, a renowned mindfulness coach, and a keynote address by Breanna Mashinter, an entrepreneur, speaker and podcast host.

Mashinter will share her experiences in the intricacies of the entrepreneurial mindset and teach attendees how to harness the power of their unconscious mind to achieve their business goals.

“Women entrepreneurs will learn how this initiative will provide access to tools that can alleviate the pressures of starting, growing and scaling a business,” said Chantalle Freeborough, Community Impact Liaison for HBEC. “Embarking on the path of being an entrepreneur has its trials, tribulations and triumphs. Sharing these experiences with like-minded people can make this journey lighter. XcelerateHER not only connects individuals to a vibrant community, but also rekindles a sense of connection that fuels our entrepreneurial spirit.”

Tim Newton, Manager at the South Georgian Bay Small Business Enterprise Centre, has seen the success of XcelerateHER events in other parts of Simcoe County and says it was a logical step to bring the high impact programming to South Georgian Bay.

“Further strengthening our inclusive approaches to supporting women-led businesses is something we are extremely mindful of, and excited to present,” said Newton. “Fueled by the collaborative nature of entrepreneurship ecosystem service providers, this launch event is sure to be the start of an empowering series that, we are excited to note, will touch down in four South Georgian Bay municipalities before the end of the year.”

The South Georgian Bay launch event is designed for all women, including cisgender women, trans women and non-binary females who want to expand their network, share experiences and celebrate the power of women in the professional world.

XcelerateHER was launched by Georgian in October 2019 to help females gain inspiration for their businesses through education with peer-to-peer groups, mentoring programs, panel discussions, funding accessibility, and more.
