Blue Mountain Resort carves out $100,000 donation

Blue Mountain donates to JDP SGB CampusBlue Mountain Resorts Limited, a pillar of the South Georgian Bay community for more than seven decades, has illustrated its support for the development of the region’s first permanent post-secondary education institution in a big way.

The company has donated $100,000 in support of Georgian College’s new John Di Poce South Georgian Bay Campus.

The generous contribution will help complete the 20,000-square-foot building under construction at the intersection of Poplar Side Road and Raglan Street in Collingwood. The campus is scheduled to open in September.

Georgian College has been present in South Georgian Bay since 1984 but has operated out of several rented facilities. This permanent campus will allow the college to triple the number of full and part-time students at the current campus as well as offer more programs and services. The first new program will be a General Arts and Sciences certificate and the campus will feature an e-learning lab where students can work toward university degrees.

Georgian College has set a campaign goal of raising $750,000 from the community in support of the John Di Poce South Georgian Bay Campus.
