Course description
Social impact and sustainable business practices focus on applying entrepreneurial thinking to address social, environmental, and community challenges through responsible and market-based approaches. In this course, students explore the principles of social entrepreneurship, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) within both non-profit and for-profit contexts. Emphasis is placed on identifying social needs, developing feasible and ethical business models, assessing and communicating social impact, and aligning organizational strategies with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Students examine the role of social innovators and corporate social entrepreneurs, including the importance of ethical and culturally informed engagement with Indigenous and marginalized communities, and apply practical tools to design, evaluate, and pitch socially responsible business solutions
