Course description

In this course students explore approaches to public engagement and audience development, considering onsite visitor experiences and interactions and a variety of online outreach formats. Students gain an understanding of how audience relationships in museums and galleries have evolved, both internationally and within Canada. The importance of maintaining and developing reciprocal relationships with communities and audiences is integrated into the course learning. Students engage in audience outreach initiatives that invite inclusion of diverse audiences. Students develop a portfolio that documents exhibition and outreach-related promotional material, social media posts, public events, and visitor interactions using a variety of design software and social media applications

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
