Introduction to Sociology

SOCL 1000

Course description

How are our lives shaped by the social contexts we inhabit? What are the underlying social forces behind our experiences, beliefs, and behaviours? Through the exploration of key social, political, and cultural issues, students engage with diverse sociological approaches to understand the complexities of social inequality and social change. They examine how major institutions and ideologies influence everyday life and social interactions. By applying a sociological lens to Canadian society and beyond, students gain a deeper understanding of how society shapes us—and how we, in turn, can shape society
