Course description

Students will deepen their understanding of learning environments emphasizing the importance of fostering positive experiences for children in the outdoors. Students will look at environments and discuss how to engage children in meaningful exploration, experimentation and play. Students will examine their roles and responsibilities in modeling respect for the environment. Students will explore evidence-based research to support outdoor learning and pedagogy from a variety of perspectives including land-based practices. This course is a combination of practical experiences in the outdoors and integrated classroom learning

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
