Program description

Project planning and information technology are essential drivers in today’s fast-paced, globally connected workplaces. Businesses across all sectors require professionals who can not only apply project management skills to a variety of IT contexts, but can also manage resource procurement processes and communicate contract expectations to interested and affected parties. 

As a graduate of the Project Management-Information Technology program, you’ll have gained the knowledge and skills to design, develop, and manage information technology projects that meet the needs of organizations, and apply quality assurance processes effectively. You’ll build your skills and proficiency in the principles of project management to work as part of an effective team that drives communication, leadership, and collaboration. By leveraging emerging technologies, you’ll be equipped to undertake a variety of IT projects across different management frameworks and tools.  

This program is ideal for individuals from diverse educational backgrounds and industries who seek to develop project management competencies. You’ll learn how to use AI-driven project tools and implement risk and security project strategies from project initiation to project closure. As a graduate, you’ll be prepared to manage IT projects across various industries and to meet the evolving demands of today’s businesses. 

Please note: There are different sections for this program. For the full-time program delivery, one is delivered entirely at the main Barrie Campus and the other is delivered at the downtown Barrie location (5 Ross St.) with Student Services offered at the main campus. The Arch and Helen Brown Design and Digital Arts Centre is located just minutes away from the waterfront. You’ll learn in our fully equipped studios using industry standard tools, and you’ll have the opportunity to network with leaders in your field and real-world clients.

What are the admission requirements for the Project Management program?

Project Management-Information Technology admission requirements

  • Ontario College Diploma, Ontario College Advanced Diploma, degree or equivalent

Applicants who do not possess the above academic requirement may be considered upon submission of a resume and reference letters that demonstrate relevant work experience.

Additional information

Students may need to purchase or install additional computer hardware or software beyond the standard program tuition and ancillary fees. A Windows-based computer is required to ensure compatibility with program software and tools. Minimum recommended specifications include:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 / AMD equivalent or higher
  • Memory: 8GB RAM (16GB recommended)
  • Storage: 256GB SSD or higher
  • Additional Important Requirements: reliable high-speed internet connection, webcam, and microphone for online learning

For Mac Users: If you have a Mac, you can look at how to run Windows applications using third-party tools that allow Windows-based software to function within a macOS environment. 

Note: Specific software and hardware requirements will be provided in the course documentation upon enrollment.

Georgian College Applied Arts and Technology is an Authorized Training Provider (ATP®) for the Project Management Institute (PMI®). As an ATP®, we can offer PDUs® and Certification Prep courses to allow students to earn Professional Development Units (PDUs®), which count toward PMI certification eligibility and renewal requirements.

Additionally, students can earn Professional Development Units (PDUs®) from the program courses, which may be applied toward meeting the eligibility requirements to sit for PMI certification exams, as well as maintaining PMI certifications. PDUs® earned in one area of the PMI Talent Triangle®-Technical Project Management, Leadership, or Strategic and Business Management-can be used to fulfill the required PDU® balance for certification eligibility and renewal.

This program is delivered via GC Flex, giving you choice and flexibility. Using technology-enabled, purpose-designed learning spaces, professors deliver lectures and labs in the classroom and simultaneously online.
