In this course, students explore the functional design, hardware configuration, programming and application of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). The design and programming of control circuits using examples from industrial applications is emphasized. The application of PLCs in process automation is examined. An overview of functional hardware design is included using small and medium sized PLCs with both digital and analog capabilities.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
