Students are introduced to the role and professional expectations of the Personal Support Worker (PSW). Students learn about professionalism, person centered care, the Canadian Health Care system, the role of the PSW, documentation, and communication (verbal and non-verbal). Students explore the interprofessional team, ethics, abuse, diversity, stress management, advocacy, and conflict resolution. Accountability and reflective practice are introduced.
Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
