Course description

Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) refresh their knowledge of professional nursing issues in Ontario. Critical thinking, therapeutic communication, holistic care, and nursing theories and frameworks are examined. RPNs focus on research skills including how research relates to evidence-based nursing practice. Scope of practice and role of the RPN within professional nursing organizations, the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards of Practice, ethical and legal issues, interprofessional relationships, and leadership are analyzed. A student must attain a minimum of 60% or a letter grade of P (Pass) or S (Satisfactory) in this course.
