The purpose of this course is to ensure students can incorporate ethical reasoning in their policing practice. In this course, students cover a number of comprehensive ethical theories, and provides students with a practical framework for their own ethical reasoning. The course is designed to achieve this end dynamically by putting students through a number of ethical scenarios faced by police, with the aim of clarifying the key values, principles and obligations that should inform ethical decision making in those situations.
Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
