Students learn the history of pharmacological treatment for at-risk children and youth, and identify commonly prescribed psychopharmacological medications. Students gain knowledge of basic medication preparation and administration, with an emphasis on supervision of self-administration, to assist with the administration and documentation of medication under supervision and in accordance with prescribed directions and agency policies. Students learn to identify drugs used for recreational use/misuse and their behavioural manifestations in children and youth.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
