Language, Learning, Literacy
Students examine the development of literacy beginning at infancy. They discuss the developmental stages of reading and writing along with techniques used to facilitate skill development. A variety of intervention programs are reviewed, as well as approaches to promote literacy development for individuals where English is not their first language. Students examine cultural considerations for literacy intervention such as Indigenous experiences and story-telling practices.
