Intro to the Profession

Students explore the professions involved in (re)habilitation and intervention of communication disorders. Students examine roles and responsibilities of Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDA), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) and Audiologists (AUD), as well as affiliated and professionally related organizations and regulatory bodies. Students are introduced to a variety of guidelines and position statements regarding the utilization of supportive personnel in the area of communication disorders to then be able to understand and work within the scope of practice as supportive personnel.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
