Hospital Pharmacy Comp Sys

COMP 2096

Students learn the operation of at least one hospital pharmacy computer system. They examine entry of medication orders, maintenance of patient medication profiles, and recognition of and acting on warning messages. Students learn about inventory control and tracking of ward stock for prescription and non-formulary drugs, reconciliation of drug counts, automatic stop orders, procedures for dispensing narcotic/controlled drugs and emergency release drugs. They practice the documentation associated with emergency drug boxes, crash carts and night cupboards. Electronic medical records are demonstrated.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
