In this course, students survey the history of photography from its beginnings in the 18th century through to 21st century practices. Students not only examine the work of influential photographers, but also investigate a variety of historic photographic movements, genres, and vocations. Emphasis is on the multidimensional ways in which photography has related to both art and culture.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
