History of Metal Art

In this course, students investigate historical styles of jewellery and non-jewellery precious metals. The focus is on Western European silver and gold, holloware, secular and ecclesiastical from ancient times to World War II. Social, religious and technological implications are explored so that students gain a greater appreciation of how the past connects with the present.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
