Course description

Students examine current special education policies and procedures in the Ontario educational system. The role of educational supports and the tools used to determine learning needs and approaches are investigated in relation to developmental and behavioural models of teaching and learning. The use of technology and environmental adaptations as a catalyst for learning and inclusion are examined relevant to the person’s age, developmental stage and learning preferences. Students practice using various technologies and teaching approaches to support academic and employability skill development.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
