Course description
Students discuss Social Role Valorization theory and investigate different ways of assisting people to achieve a self-determined lifestyle through a collaborative person-directed planning approach. A variety of person-directed planning tools is examined. Using outcome-based performance measures, accountability and quality of life indicators, students evaluate supports provided, and barriers to overcome during the planning process. Students explore funding mechanisms, the Support Intensity Scale, and planning for youth transitioning to adult services.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
