Event Planning and Programming
As an introduction to the types of events in the industry, students gain a broad understanding of what is involved in planning a variety of events including mega, local/community, hallmark, major events and conventions. The fundamentals of successful event planning begin with conducting research. Within a team-based environment, students conduct a needs assessment to determine factors such as the type of an event and the programming components and delivery format using recognized event planning tools. To address cultural diversity and sustainability development goals (SDGs), students identify and apply specific goals that align with community partners and the event objectives.
Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
